The continuing development of the planned community of Furry Creek on the eastern shores of Howe Sound, in the Regional District of Squamish and Lillooet, is the realization of a bold vision conceived in the early 1990s. To date, the community includes an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, a range of single family houses, and the Oliver’s landing neighbourhood of waterfront townhouses and clubhouse.
The ongoing development includes the completion of approximately 250 waterfront townhouses and terraced apartments, flood control measures, a general store, resort boutique hotel, community marina, and a network of public trails.
Together with a skilled multi-disciplinary professional team, NSDA has developed overall master plans for the waterfront lands to the north and south of the Furry Creek estuary. These neighbourhoods include a variety of townhouses, an amenity building with swimming pool and an apartment building with neighbourhood commercial space. These environmentally and ecologically sensitive lands have required meticulous analysis to assess any impact of the proposed developments.
The professional team includes environmental engineers, civil and geotechnical engineers, arborists and landscape architects. In addition to minimizing and mitigating any environmental impact, the developments have been designed to withstand flooding to a 200-year standard. The master plans have incorporated continuous public walkways along the waterfront with connections back to Furry Creek. The foreshore trail incorporates public seating areas and ends by an observation pier.
